WINTER RITES

Medias Res Immersive Theater is producing a short experience in conjunction with Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA, as a devised experience involving multiple students at the school. This will be part of a short play fest in the Winter Theater (details below).

You will enter the Cathedral of the 5th Monastic Order of Kairos (God of opportunity and the right moment), but it is in crisis. Since 2024, a great Miasma has descended on the Cathedral, blocking expression and freedom of creativity - in short, censorship. The monks have summoned the High Priestesses to expel the Miasma!

Experience the Dana Fine Arts building, designed by legendary Atlanta architect John Portman, who called the building a Cathedral to Art. You will be guided through various locations in the building as the Miasma slowly descends. You may even witness it face-to-face as the Priestesses fight with all their strength to defend the Cathedral to Art from spiraling into censorship and thought control.

This is my first foray with the wonderful folks at Academy Theatre in Hapeville, GA (home for the arts)!



It is such an honour to have the opportunity to tell this ancient story with a wonderful bunch of local players and with a new script from local playwright legend Phillip DePoy. Directed by TYA master, Rosemary Newcott (25+ years at the Alliance) our company was guided through this epic tale, immersing the audience in Heorot Hall, with a multi-media supernatural element, broadsword fights and the music...oh the music (composed by DePoy) is sublime.

The newly added third act is a timely addition as we all face dragons in one sort or another, as history rhymes with itself in front of our eyes.

The world premiere production of the 2025 Essential Theatre Playwriting Award-winning play, A Very Special Hospital by Matt Hoffman, opens August 8.

A dark comedy about healthcare with a piercing family story, this is Hoffman’s second full-length play, the first being The Manuscript which premiered at the 2023 Essential Theatre Play Festival to popular and critical acclaim.

Very honored to be included with the incredible shows this year! It's one of the more boundlessly creative evenings in #atlantatheatre, and every show definitely breaks a mold or ten.
